In the realm of missed opportunities, there exists one event in England that stirred a sense of envy within me; a gathering graced by luminaries such as Rick Strassman, Rupert Sheldrake, Dennis McKenna, and Graham Hancock, among many others. In this grand assembly, discourse flowed like a river, meandering through the domains of DMT entities, the enigmatic pineal gland, the Amazonian shamanic perspective, and the intricate science underpinning hallucinations. The venue itself, a sprawling mansion, only deepened my lament for not being among the chosen.
Among the myriad inquiries, one, in particular, beckoned my contemplation: What actually are the enigmatic DMT Elves? The answer to this query eluded definitive capture, and herein lies an intriguing conundrum. Epistemologically, it is impossible to know what they are within the boundaries of today's perspective.
The scientific method, entrenched as it is within the materialistic paradigm, lends itself poorly to the pursuit of this kind of enigma. The key to unravelling this mystery necessitates a departure from our customary path, a venture into realms untouched by the materialistic lens. We need to approach the question in an entirely different manner to get an answer. Why not ask the DMT Elves themselves?
As a devoted student of history, it has long amused me that we, in our arrogance, often solicit the wisdom of indigenous cultures and promptly discard their responses as quaint or fanciful. A poignant illustration of this conceit emerges when one inquires about the details of the Egyptian Kings list. The Kings List of ancient Egypt is a significant historical document that provides a chronological list of the pharaohs who ruled Egypt from the beginning of the dynastic period until the end of the New Kingdom. The Egyptian's opinion on its accuracy, it appears, falls short of satisfying the criteria imposed by the scientific materialist paradigm. Secular Egyptologists agree that Egyptian chronologies are in desperate need of revision Yet, might it be that within the realms of myth or the liminal, their response carries a different kind of truth, one not to be dismissed as easily? Or with "history" being revised now so quickly, it could even BE the truth? But what is "truth"? History is just a story, after all!
Further intrigue arises when one delves into the experiences of those who engage with non-material beings through their mystical or magickal practices. In my interviews for Magical Egypt Season Four, I found that the magi, for all their expertise, often grappled with uncertainty regarding the nature of these beings. Are they products of our imagination, facets of our psyche, or distinct entities with their own consciousness and intentions? Once again, clarity remains elusive.
Here, I invite contemplation: What transpires when we approach these enigmatic encounters with a disposition of profound meaning? Let me introduce Shonagh Home, a custodian of Celtic heritage and a Ban Draoi and fili—a Celtic medicine woman, seer, and poet. In her contemporary role as a medicine woman, she interweaves her profound connection to nature and the spirit realms into her flourishing practice. Her journey has been marked by a deep apprenticeship with the mushroom teachers, who have granted her profound insights into the mysteries of existence.
It is essential to acknowledge this telling clue within Shonagh's path. She, in her devotion, has apprenticed herself to these fungal mentors, and the wisdom that she has gleaned is nothing short of astonishing. Notably, when she communes with these teachers, she becomes a vessel for the most exquisite poetry, a channel for insights that cannot be mere improvisation or recollection from memory. The words flow in rhyme, pregnant with care, unapologetically candid, and seasoned with subtle, mystical humour. They resonate precisely with the image one might conjure of a conversation with a mystical being.

Did you notice the practical advice and wisdom that was shared in this transmission as Shonagh calls them?
For Shonagh, Magic Mushrooms are an organic portal into the world of spirit and our deeper mystery. Those "who are called" have an opportunity to explore beyond our current corporatized construct to experience connection with intelligences that offer insight, illumination and counsel. Her life story since her introduction to the mushroom is a testament to their counsel's efficacy. At the very least, it is one hell of a story!
In her talk at the Magical Egypt Summit, she will share her experience cultivating relationships with these teachers and the cumulative effects of that relationship over the past 12 years. As Shonagh explains, nature invites us to engage her mystery in a myriad of ways. Magic Mushrooms are just one of many avenues to deeper mystical knowing and kinship with the otherworld. How do we make sense of our journeys in those realms? With whom or what are we interacting? What are we opening ourselves to? How do we apply that to our current reality construct? Shonagh will share her thoughts on those questions and more. I cannot wait!
I think we might finally have an answer as to whom and what these beings might be : )
Shonagh will be speaking at the Magical Egypt Summit in September.
