Red is the new black, and by black, I mean occult. Black has long been associated with the occult because it represents the unknown, the hidden, and the mysterious depths that lie beyond the surface of ordinary perception.
Because I am a marketer at heart, I scan my social media feeds for clues about trends, psychic weather, and the subtle shifts in collective mood that signal new desires, needs, or areas of curiosity. I watch for patterns in what people are drawn to, the language they use, and the recurring themes that surface in conversations. It's like reading the crowd's energy, sensing what stirs beneath the surface to align my messages and offerings with the pulse of what's ready to emerge.
Despite the self-assured predictions from a few delighted pundits who accurately forecasted Trump's resurgence, the actual outcome of the election was strikingly difficult to predict if gauged solely by social media feeds. In retrospect, the degree of support for red was unknown, hidden, and occulted, unlike that of the blue team, which for the most part, (there were several friends who calmly maid their argument) was, and still is, loud.
Social feeds often amplify certain perspectives, creating echo chambers that reflect only a fraction of the broader reality. Algorithms prioritize engagement, which means they frequently elevate the loudest voices, the most provocative views, or the familiar, reinforcing biases rather than giving a balanced view. This distortion can easily give the impression of consensus or momentum, even when such views don't hold majority sway beyond the screen.
The result? An exaggerated sense of particular narratives and an obscuring of other, quieter currents of opinion—ones that don't trend but prove decisive in the end. Social media captures the spectacle of the moment, not necessarily the sober sentiments that guide a broader population's decisions. In this case, it was a vivid reminder that while social feeds may seem like a window into the collective pulse, they rarely capture the full heartbeat of a complex electorate. Anyone relying on these platforms alone would have been startled by the result—a landslide shift that social media sentiment barely hinted at.
However, there was something more going on, something more occult. It reminds me of when I was young and my mother died. My brother, I, and Nanna were left to take over the myriad chores left undone in her absence. I did what I could while my brother basically abandoned his post, which made me quite angry at the time. Angry because my Nanna picked up his slack. I could not stop whining about it...why did she not just leave it...why did she not just tell him to do it...to which she, in her wisdom, responded...it was just easier to do it herself than engage in the histrionics involved in coercing him to do it.
And that is where many were pre-election. As dear mum would say, taking on the blue team was a situation where "the juice ain't worth the squeezing." They were trapped in their CNN-decorated reality tunnels, ears closed, unquestioningly defending media-invented talking points. For Team Red, energy was retained and collected for better efforts, and boy, did we see the outcome.
In a way, the Blue Team's histrionics inadvertently supercharged the Red Team's magical potential, and now they must reap what they had sown. For better or for worse? Only time will tell, but let me focus on the process rather than the outcome. The Blue Team's histrionics forced the Red Team to remain silent and secret about their intentions.
Secrecy in magick is not just a matter of tradition but a crucial element that safeguards the purity and potency of the work. Magick, at its core, is a dance between thought, intention, and the unseen—a delicate and precise alignment that thrives in silence. When intent is shared or exposed, it becomes vulnerable to the influence of others' thoughts and energies, which can unintentionally dilute or distort it. The focus required for manifestation depends on a pristine, undivided force of will, which secrecy helps maintain, thereby preserving the power of the intention.
Keeping magick private also protects it from the ambient noise of scepticism and doubt, which can seep into even the most dedicated practice. However subtle, the thoughts and judgments of others can interfere with one's resolve, creating inner resistance or hesitation where there was once clarity. In secrecy, a practitioner shields their work from this subtle erosion, allowing their intention to remain powerful and untainted, free to unfold without interruption.
From my "lofty position" (JOKE) as a member of team Ultraviolet, where I remain sceptical about both teams, the true locus of control and the process itself, I will admit I am ok with this outcome. Not watching the news, my reality tunnel was devoid of most of the rhetoric, but that which did make it through to me was so appalling and ridiculous...the Nazi Rally, really! That was the nail in the coffin for me; I mean, come on...Hitler used spoons; Trump uses spoons...you may as well have gone right there...because if this is the calibre of your critical thinking, then you should not be in power. Especially after your "he's ok, he's not ok" Biden routine...how could anyone with perception believe anything you say?
So what now? I am also sceptical about what will happen now as I realise how difficult it is to install policies for better or worse. Still, I am sure about one thing: magickally, silence nurtures will, and what we see today is the will of the silent majority magickally unfolding.
It's mostly the same team, but to surpass the prodding by the mainstream shows the limit of their control. There is a peculiarly dark assortment of the astrology for the next month or so, but that too is according to how the masses decide to direct the sense.
Love this. I wrote about the red and the blue at the begining of the week too - linking Saturn (traditionally linked to black) with the red team 😉
